Don Grant

Don works as a salaried GP in Portishead. He is Treasurer of Bristol Association of Sessional Doctors. He also works as an appraiser for Bristol community health.

Don has been involved in the educational side of BASD for many years. He believes that there is a need for a plurality of educational provision in and around Bristol which has a degree of independence from political interference.

At present GPs are subject to many attempts to control their professional lives. In education however they are so far free to learn what they believe to be important for their professional development.

He sees this as an essential element of Professional status.

Don views his role as a Director of Bristol GP learning as enabling him to input directly into debate around what should be learned and the provision of learning appropriate not only to GP partners but to a wide range of Doctors working in General Practice, however defined.

He is married with a teenage son and two dogs. He lives in Bristol.
